1. Welcome to Lendoo
1.1 Lendoo operates an online platform (“Lendoo Service”) that allows users to:
(a) advertise items for rent (“owners”);
(b) communicate with and enter into agreements with other users to rent items (“renters”);
(c) facilitate payment from renters to owners; and
(d) resolve disputes regarding rented items. The Service is available via the Lendoo app and the website lendoo.co.uk.
1.2 The Service is provided by Lendoo Ltd (“Lendoo”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
2. Important warnings about lending and hiring
2.1 Lendoo provides only the platform for peer-to-peer rentals and does not rent or lend items itself, nor routinely monitor item quality.
2.2 Owners are solely responsible for ensuring items match descriptions, are safe, and fit for purpose. Lendoo is not liable for rented items.
2.3 Owners must comply with applicable laws and consumer rights, and compensate renters or others if their items cause damage.
2.4 Renters are responsible for the proper care and return of rented items and may be liable for damage caused by negligence, misuse, or improper skill. Lendoo will determine liability where appropriate.
2.5 Lendoo is not an insurer and does not provide insurance or a guarantee for items. Any protection on Lendoo is provided solely through refundable security deposits set by owners and handled via the platform.
3. Your relationship with us
3.1 These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your relationship with Lendoo.
3.2 Additional terms may apply based on whether you are an owner or renter.
3.3 By using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you disagree, please do not use the Service.

6.1 Enables owners to list items and renters to find and book them.
6.2 Social features (e.g., messaging, sharing) may be available. Use of these features must comply with our Acceptable Use rules.
7. Account setup
7.1 You must create an account with email and password (preferably strong).
7.2 You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering legally binding agreements.
7.3 You are responsible for securing your login credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately.
8. License to use the Service
8.1 All content on the Lendoo Service is licensed to you for personal use only.
8.2 You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, or transfer the Service or its content without permission.
8.3 All intellectual property rights in the Service remain our own or those of our licensors.
9. Owner-specific terms
9.1 These apply if you’re posting items for hire.
9.2 Do not list prohibited items (e.g., weapons, vehicles, animals, illicit goods). We may remove listings we deem inappropriate.
9.3 Owners must:
- Legally own or have rights to rent the items;
- Deliver items as agreed;
- Provide accurate listings, including full descriptions, restrictions, and safety instructions;
- Ensure items match photos, are safe, fit for use, and legal;
9.4 For storage listings: ensure the space is safe, secure, and free from hazards; you’re liable for any damage to stored items.
9.5 Owners may agree additional terms and must display total Hire Fees inclusive of taxes or delivery.
9.6 Cancellation by owners is permitted up to 48 hours before rental; cancellations less than 48 hours before may incur a 30% hire fee charge.
9.7 Security deposits (owners). Owners may set a refundable security deposit for each listing. By listing an item with a deposit, you authorise Lendoo to collect, hold and (where applicable) refund the deposit on your behalf. Owners must submit any claim within 48 hours of the scheduled return time with evidence (e.g., photos, notes, receipts). If no claim is made in time, the deposit will be refunded to the renter.
10. Renter-specific terms
10.1 These apply if you’re renting items.
10.2 Rental rights are personal and non-transferable.
10.3 Renters must:
- Lawfully use hired items;
- Follow applicable laws and owner instructions;
- Return items in the same condition (reasonable wear and tear excepted).
10.4 Storage renters must not store hazardous or flammable items; maximum value £25,000.
10.5 Return items before the end of the rental period or arrange extension with approval.
10.6 Renters may be liable for damage due to negligence or misuse; Lendoo will assess liability.
10.7 You may cancel requests before payment. After payment, the applicable cancellation policy applies.
10.8 Late returns: you must notify the owner or Lendoo immediately and book an extension. Unreturned items may incur late fees payable from your card without consent.
10.9 Security deposit (renters). Some listings require a refundable security deposit, displayed at checkout. The deposit is charged when you pay for the booking and is fully refundable once the item is returned on time, in the same condition (allowing for reasonable wear and tear), with all accessories. By booking, you authorise Lendoo to deduct from the deposit any amounts due for:
(a) damage, loss, or missing parts;
(b) excessive cleaning;
(c) late return charges or unreturned items; and
(d) other agreed fees under these Terms.
If costs exceed the deposit, you remain liable for the balance.
11. Items in Transit
11.1 Lendoo isn’t responsible for third-party courier loss or damage.
11.2 Owners and renters must handle courier insurance claims directly.
11.3 Research any courier service before use.
12. Fees and payments
12.1 Owners: once payment is collected from the renter, Lendoo transfers the Hire Fee (minus a 20% owner fee) within 24 hours of rental start.
12.2 Renters: in addition to the Hire Fee, a renter service fee of 10–20% (based on category) applies.
12.3 Unpaid fees: after 7 days of failed payment, your access to Lendoo may be suspended, and chargebacks can result in immediate suspension.
12.4 Deposit collection and holding. Where applicable, Lendoo will charge the deposit to the renter’s payment method at checkout and hold it until release/refund.
12.5 Automatic refund. If the owner raises no claim within 48 hours of the scheduled return, Lendoo will instruct a full refund of the deposit. Bank processing times vary; refunds typically appear within 3–7 business days.
12.6 Claims against the deposit. Where a claim is made in time with supporting evidence, Lendoo may deduct an appropriate amount from the deposit and transfer it to the owner. Any undisputed remainder will be refunded to the renter.
12.7 Exceeding the deposit. If the assessed amount exceeds the deposit, Lendoo may charge the renter’s payment method for the difference under these Terms.
12.8 Currency and fees. Deposits are charged and refunded in the listing currency. Your bank or card provider may apply exchange rates or fees.
12.9 Chargebacks. Unresolved chargebacks relating to deposits may result in suspension of your account and recovery action for owed sums.
13. Your content
13.1 You retain ownership of your content but grant Lendoo a worldwide, royalty-free license to use it in connection with the Service.
13.2 You must have rights to any content uploaded.
13.3 We may remove content that violates acceptable use or our policies.
14. Acceptable Use Rules
You must not:
(a) tamper with platform security;
(b) provide false information or impersonate others;
(c) use the Service if suspended or banned;
(d) promote illegal or harmful conduct;
(e) advertise products/services unrelated to rentals on our platform;
(f) send unsolicited marketing;
(g) modify or hack the platform;
(h) introduce malware;
(i) scrape data improperly;
(j–m) upload abusive, misleading, or infringing content;
(n) harass or threaten others;
(o) use bots or automation;
(p) bypass platform fees by private arrangements—penalties include double fees or £200 fines.
Breaches may lead to removal, bans, legal action, or reporting to authorities.
15. Notice and takedown
Users may report infringing content by emailing hello@lendoo.co.uk, including: name, contact, reason, and link to content. We’ll respond and act as appropriate.
16. Dispute resolution between users
16.1 We encourage direct dispute resolution. Renters should inform owners promptly if damage occurs.
16.2 Owners may provide evidence of damage during resolution.
16.3 Deposit disputes. If you dispute a proposed deduction from a deposit, notify Lendoo within 48 hours of being informed. Lendoo may request additional evidence from both parties and mediate a fair outcome. Lendoo’s determination on deposit allocation will be final for platform purposes and may include partial deductions. This does not affect your statutory rights.
16.4 All owed sums must be paid within 48 hours of request; otherwise Lendoo may charge your card.
17. Security Deposit Rules
17.1 Purpose. Security deposits exist to cover loss, damage, missing accessories, excessive cleaning, and late/non-return charges related to a booking.
17.2 Display. The applicable deposit amount is set by the owner and shown on the listing/checkout before you pay.
17.3 Collection. Deposits are charged at checkout and held by Lendoo until release or deduction in accordance with these Terms.
17.4 Refunds. If the item is returned on time and in the same condition (allowing for reasonable wear and tear), with all accessories, the deposit will be refunded in full. Refunds are initiated by Lendoo and typically reach your bank within 3–7 business days, subject to your provider.
17.5 Claims window. Owners must submit any claim with evidence within 48 hours of the scheduled return. If no claim is made in time, the deposit is automatically refunded.
17.6 Deductions. Where a valid claim is made, Lendoo may deduct a reasonable amount from the deposit to cover the proven loss. Any undisputed remainder will be refunded to the renter.
17.7 Insufficient deposit. If proven costs exceed the deposit, the renter remains liable for the difference. Lendoo may charge the renter’s payment method under these Terms.
17.8 No insurance. Deposits are not insurance. Lendoo does not insure items and is not an insurer. Nothing in these Terms creates an insurance contract.
17.9 Abuse and fraud. Submitting false or misleading claims, or attempting to avoid legitimate deductions, may result in account suspension, recovery action, or legal steps.
18. Ending the relationship
18.1 If you disagree with any changes or terms, stop using Lendoo immediately.
18.2 Deleting the app does not cancel your account; you must notify us at hello@lendoo.co.uk.
18.3 We may suspend or terminate your use if Terms are breached.
18.4 We may discontinue parts of the Service; significant changes will be communicated when possible.
18.5 Upon termination, we may delete user content and data. Keep backups of anything you wish to retain.
18.6 Termination does not relieve you of payment obligations.
18.7 Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
19. Our liability
19.1 We strive for quality but are not liable for third-party content.
19.2 The Service is provided “as is”; we don’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free usage.
19.3 Our liability is capped at fees paid to us in the last 12 months; if unpaid, our liability is nil.
19.4 We are not responsible for unforeseeable losses.
19.5 Nothing limits liability for personal injury or death due to our negligence.
20. Disputes with Lendoo
20.1 Contact us first at hello@lendoo.co.uk to resolve issues informally.
20.2 If unresolved, we will agree on the appropriate resolution approach.
21. Changes to the Service
21.1 Lendoo may update or discontinue Service features over time.
21.2 Changes may affect your content or usage. Continued use implies acceptance.
21.3 You are free to stop using the Service at any time.
22. Apple App Store Provisions
If the Lendoo app is downloaded via Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Lendoo, not Apple. Apple has no liability for support, warranties, or claims relating to the app. You agree that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms where applicable.
23. Other App Stores (e.g., Google Play)
If downloaded from other platforms, the same principles apply: your agreement is with Lendoo, not the store provider, which holds no liability.
24. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms periodically. The latest version will be published on lendoo.co.uk/terms. Significant changes may be communicated in advance or take effect immediately when necessary.
25. Relationship documents
25.1 These Terms, together with referenced documents (Privacy Policy, FAQs, Guarantee), form the entire agreement.
25.2 If a part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains valid.
25.3 Delay in enforcing rights does not waive those rights.
26. Governing law
These Terms are governed by English law. Disputes will initially be referred to English courts, without affecting statutory rights in your country of residence.
27. Contact and feedback
Contact us at hello@lendoo.co.uk for questions or feedback. By sending feedback, you grant Lendoo rights to use it without restriction or compensation.
